Family therapy,
for the space between you.
Family therapy in Cobourg, in person or online, for conflict, divorce and big life changes. We look at the patterns between people, not just within them.
When does family therapy help?
Family therapy can help when a problem lives between people: the same conflicts on repeat, a big change everyone is adjusting to, or a teen and parents who can’t seem to talk.
Families often come to me for:
- Family conflict
- Divorce
- Life transitions
- Children and teens
- Grief
I work with families of preteens, teens and adults, and my practice is LGBTQ+ affirming.
How I work with families
I focus on the family as a whole: the roles, habits and patterns that repeat between people. No one is singled out as the problem.
- Family Systems
- Looks at each person within the wider family, noticing the roles and patterns that repeat across relationships and generations.
- Family / Marital
- Works with family members together to improve communication, resolve conflict and strengthen connection.
- Relational
- Explores how relationships shape how each person feels and acts, in a safe and accepting setting.

Common questions
Who should come to family therapy?
That depends on the situation. It might be the whole household, a parent and teen, or the adults first. We can talk it through when I get in touch to set up the first session.
Do you work with teenagers?
Yes. I work with preteens, teens and adults, on their own and in family sessions.
Is family therapy covered by insurance?
It depends on your plan. I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) and accept 17 insurance providers. It’s worth checking that your plan covers psychotherapy by an RP before your first session.
Can family sessions be online?
Yes. We can meet in person at 438 Division Street in Cobourg, or online.
